Seating Plan Generator

Placement is a teaching decision, not an algorithmic one. The rules and strategies below encode pedagogical choices. Defaults reflect common practice; they are not universally correct. Review with your SENCo and pastoral lead, adapt to your students, and revisit each term.

Defaults reflect common practice. They are not universal — adjust to match your school's policy and your knowledge of the class.

Rating dimensions

Switch off any you don't want to score on.
Categorical flags (gender, SEN, EAL, medical) sit on the class list regardless and feed the hard rules.
Use a class list template instead of typing here Download a CSV with the right columns, fill it in offline (Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets), then import.

Hard overrides. Pairs sit adjacent; separations are kept apart.
